Avaya Nortel - Quagga Engineering Votes Just Released With Avaya announcing the purchase of Nortel, which is expected to close by December pending numerous court approvals the market landscape for enterprise telephony just got a whole lot smaller. So which product lines stay and which will go? Well, the Quagga Engineering team voted. He is our expert non biased opinion:
- Call Center Applications/Self Service: Winner, Avaya – Avaya hands down winner. Please don't say the word "Symposium."
- UC Applications: Winner, Tie – While Avaya has great mobile applications, Nortel does have a very impressive Microsoft desktop integration.
- Messaging: Winner, Avaya – Nortel has a complete product line, but Avaya has the slight edge.
- SMB/Key Systems: Winner, Nortel - We’ll take the BCM product line any day.
- LAN/WAN/Security: Winner, Nortel – Avaya Cajun and VPNet is dead, Nortel Wins!
- IP Phones: Winner, Tie – Depends what you prefer in a phone. We hope Avaya incorporates Nortel IP endpoints into the Aura Session Manager architecture. Seems like a no-brainer.
